Richard Bernico
Richard Bernico was born and raised in Chicago. He served in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy. He is a veteran of both services. While serving in the USAF during the Vietnam War, Richard Bernico worked in security forces stationed in Germany. He was responsible for the safety and security of joint US and German assets. He earned his Associates of Liberal Arts Degree from the City Colleges of Chicago with Honors (3.5 GPA) and a certificate in Mid-Management.
United States Air Force
While serving in the USAF during the Vietnam War, Richard Bernico worked in security forces stationed in Germany. He was responsible for the safety and security of joint US and German assets. He earned his Associates of Liberal Arts Degree from the City Colleges of Chicago with Honors (3.5 GPA) and a certificate in Mid-Management.
United States Navy
While serving in the Navy, Richard Bernico was assigned to two nuclear-powered submarines as a Nuclear Reactor Operator, Nuclear Shift Supervisor, Leading LCPO for the Reactor Controls division, and Nuclear Repair Coordinator. Rick’s non-military training and experience included assembling televisions at Motorola and Quasar, repairing IBM typewriters and copiers, and serving as a licensed insurance and investment agent for The New England. Rick’s creative endeavors began when he worked for Computer City in Honolulu, where he began using digital cameras and photo editing software.
Hawaii Pacific University
He then earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication cum laude from Hawaii Pacific University (3.96 GPA). While there, he was the lead photographer, photo editor, and web designer for the student newspaper, Kalamalama. During that time, HPU earned national awards in photography and graphic design, and was specifically mentioned by name.
American Scholastic Press Association Award for Outstanding Service to Community for Coverage of 9/11 Tragedy (collage design) awarded to Hawaii Pacific University student newspaper, Kalamalama.
Hawaii Profiles
Over the next twenty years, Rick built a photography business that covered beauty pageants, Samoan fire knife competitions, theater, events, and portraiture. He became a skilled digital creator of surreal artistic collages using his photos and professional software. Rick has been the official photographer for dozens of beauty pageants as well as graphic designer responsible for laying out and designing program books, tickets, fliers, contestant ads, sponsor ads, event media backgrounds, and much more. Rick earned certifications at Olelo Community Television where he produced and directed his own television episodes of Hawaii Profiles™ and Teens in Control. He also volunteered hundreds of hours helping other producers with their television projects.
Los Angeles Film School
Rick recently graduated from the Los Angeles Film School Bachelor of Science in Online Digital Filmmaking Program (3.99 GPA) where he has already created a short narrative film, two short documentaries, and is working on expanding his final project into a full-length documentary.
As an actor, Rick has trained under Wayne Ward and Eric Nemoto’s Acting Gym, which is currently being conducted and filmed in the Hawaii Profiles ™ Studios.
