On September 1st, 2024, I completed the Los Angeles Film School Bachelor of Science in Digital Filmmaking Program thanks to the Veterans Administration and their VR&E program for disabled veterans.

It was a 36-month program that I completed in 32 months thanks to the transcript audit from the Hawaii Pacific University Bachelor of Arts in Communication sent to them, which credited me with 4 classes.
As a professional photographer entering the school at the ripe-old age of 68, I was concerned about what I would do after I graduated at the riper-older age of 71. Eric Nemoto, a prodigious filmmaker, personal friend, AND mentor said to me, “You will be fine. 70 is the old 50.”
Back when I was much younger (67), I had the idea to ask the VA if I could go through their Vocational Rehabilitation Program again. I went through initially in 1999 when I got my Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Hawaii Pacific University, in Honolulu in 2001. I fully expected them to turn me down saying that once was enough, but to my surprise they allowed me to go through once again.
I am so blessed that the VA has allowed me this opportunity to complete this program at no cost to myself – sorta. I put 110% effort into the program and completed all assignments on time, to the best of my ability. I graduated with a 3.99 GPA (summa cum laude) and the graduation ceremony date is September 27th, 2024.
I will tell more of this story during my graduation ceremony blog entry.
